Please help me decide- keep or return?- AKA- “I am officially being ridiculous!”

If you have read my blog you probably know I am a savage, relentless bargain hunter. I am PASSIONATE about clearance sales. So yesterday I was exceptionally excited when I thought I got the Playskool Busy Ball Popper for a STEAL. Turns out I might have been robbed, and I would love your input to help me decide what to do. The most wonderful time of the year!

Do you all know what the most wonderful time of the year is?? Why, Post-Christmas bargain shopping time, of course!
I kid… sorta. Not really. I am currently fighting off the urge to go out and indulge in another round of frenzied cosumerism.
I hope all of you had a wonderful, wonderful holiday full of love and laughter. Our holiday was kinda unusual. It was a “Christmas Story” sort of Christmas, I will write more about it later. Short version: it was disrupted by the dreaded INFLUENZA. Mapman tested positive for it after waiting THREE HOURS at a doc-in-a-box on Christmas Eve. Junky way to spend that special day. Not what we had in mind. Then he spent most of the next 2 days sleeping. It was lonely sometimes.
By the way, he was the first case of Flu at that office this season, and one of the very first in the state. Always the leader, my husband.
I then had to schlep the kids alone to my Mom’s for Christmas Eve. Then we totally MISSED two family gatherings on Christmas Day. As disappointed as I was, I still found Christmas and shall keep it in my heart all year through. I know I have a lot to be thankful for and spent Christmas Day making memories with the three people I love the most (when my husband was awake). We made very merry, thank you very much.
By the way, I think it may have been good that we didn’t do the holiday family crush as we had planned, which was spending the night at my Mom’s Christmas Eve, & then his Mom’s Christmas Day. Instead we spread it out and finished family celebrations yesterday because Mapman is finally feeling better (thank you, Tamiflu). Even with that little bit Percy has been in meltdown mode and really having a hard day today. I shudder to think how hard things COULD have been on him. For those of you who don’t know, my son has an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Too much stimulation and disruption in routine can create explosive results.
Anyway, the day after Christmas I got to go to one of my very favorite events– the Target HALF-OFF HOLIDAY SALE!!!!! Do any of you recall the debacle of the post-Easter sale? This time I went SANS kids. It was glorious. I know you want to hear about it! (more…)

Six Unspectacular Quirks
My bloggy friend Mama Mara from Mama on the Edge recently tagged me to do a meme. When I say “recently”, that is a relative term. It was probably over a month ago. I am bad like that. Anyway, the meme is Six Unspectacular Quirks. Mama’s so savvy that she suspected I may be slightly quirky.
Here’s the rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Mention the rules on your blog.
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks you possess.
4. Tag 6 bloggers & link to them.
5. Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged.
All of my quirks are pretty spectacular, but I will try and not be too exciting.
1. My second toe is longer than my big toe on my left foot . My big toe is also shorter than normal. It’s like God took a piece of my big toe and used it to enhance my second toe. That’s not quirky, I know, it’s just plain freaky. My husband calls it my “Freak Toe”. The quirky part is that I can pick up things using my feet, actually grasping items in between my toes. My freak toe comes in quite handy. It’s almost like having an extra opposable thumb, except not so opposable, but still…

Confessions of a Clearance Shopper
After all that waiting and buildup, hard to believe it has come and gone already. The day we anticipated for so long, lay awake at night dreaming about, jumped out of bed eager to experience— and what I am referring to of course if the the post-holiday clearance sale.
